Musical Professor and Conductor, Mitchell Hanlon
A freelance musician located in Fullerton, California, Mitch Hanlon has spent nearly four decades working at various institutions and venues throughout Southern California. He is a sight-reading pianist with expertise in areas of musical theater and coaching. He served as a professor of voice and musical director at the California State University, Fullerton, from 1995 to 2021, during which time he received honors such as the Outstanding Faculty Award and headed annual New York City Showcase trip. From 1991 to 2006 Mitch Hanlon served as Maestro John Mauceri’s assistant conductor for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, a position that involved oversight of more than 325 concerts at the venue. He also performed as an organ and piano soloist at the Hollywood Bowl.
Mitch Hanlon studied music at Chapman University in Orange, achieving his Bachelor of Music in 1985. He continued his music education as a graduate student at the University of Southern California. He completed the program in 1989, graduating with a Master of Music in piano performance.
Mr. Hanlon’s interests outside of music range from gardening to hiking. He is also an active member of the local Elks Club and music director at his church, First Christian Church Fullerton.
